Wine Dinner #3

Name: Pinetti
Variety:  Rose
Region: Sicilia
Country: Italy
Year: 2017
Price: $3.95

Winery review: A tribute to modern Italian style and its chic sophistication, Pinetti Notte celebrates la dolce vita with a wine sure to pique your palate. This wine embraces time honored traditional winemaking and a refined flair for style. Relish in a Pinetti evening of casual elegance; sipping wine, laughing, and enjoying close friends and family in the Italian way.

My review:  This wasn't bad for a cheap Rose in my opinion. I thought it had an aroma of full fruits. The taste was very strawberry for me and as well as some rhubarb jelly taste.

The Pairing: Paired with cheddar biscuits for appetizers, absolutely amazing even though this was not an ideal pairing. I thought it went well. But anything goes well with cheddar biscuits baby!

My Score: 7.8/10

Main dish: Fish and Fries

Name: Bay Bridge
Variety:  Pinot Grigio
Region: Ripon, California
Country: USA
Year: ?
Price: $2.95

Winery review:  Like true Bay Bridge its so cheap they don't even put literature on the back.

My review:  Very fruity aroma, I wasnt expecting much. The taste was very fruity and sweet which I expected. For the price this isn't a terrible pinot but it doesn't have  a lot of character, just very sweet and bland.

The Pairing: Paired with Fish and Fries, the fries didn't really do that much in the meal but I felt like it made the fish taste even sweeter or vice versa.

My Score: 6.1/10

Desert: Apple Pie

Name: Sutter Home
Variety:  Sangria
Region: Nappa, California
Country: USA
Year: ?
Price: $3.95

Winery review:  Raise a glass to friends and family with our delicious Sangria, bursting with juicy berry and citrus flavors with just a hint of spice. Enjoy over ice.

My review:  Wow! This was a pleasant surprise for me. A berry aroma followed through on the palate with a very nice citrusy flavor and with an excellent hint of spice. I regret not putting this on ice, but I will next time!

The Pairing: Paired with Apple Pie, this really set of the Apple Pie. The spice flavor that was in the Sangria really made this pop and went together like Bonnie and Clyde.

My Score: 8.7/10

WINE AND CHEESE PAIRING #3

Cheese #1

Name: Beringer
Variety:  Red Blend
Region:  Sonoma, California
Country: USA
Year: ?
Price: $2.95

Winery review:  Find Beringer Main & Vine at the end of Main Street where the shops slowly fade into vineyards and wine country begin. Semi-dry

My review:  This wine was a nice wine, it was more sweet than dry in my opinion but was very smooth. A little peppery but still elegant.

The Pairing: Paired with North Sea cheese, which was an amazingly soft and silky smooth that had a slightly nutty taste as well as a sweetness. It really enhanced the wine and made for a great pairing

My Score: 8.5/10

CHEESE #2

Winery review:  From the first moment with aroma of blackberries and black plum, fresh strawberry notes topped with a touch of black licorice charm the palate

My review:  This was another great buy in may opinion. Great aroma of fruity and plummy notes. The taste was quite darker than expected. Taste of Licorice and jammy notes with a touch of leathery afternoons. I liked it though...

The Pairing: Paired with Muenster cheese, this cheese was incredibly smooth but had a slight sour taste which was off-putting but not terrible. They complimented one another well.

My Score: 7.9/10

CHEESE #3

Winery review:  In the artisan traditions of chute, this elegant wines flavors of strawberries and hokum are interwoven with aromas of cherry and hints of fig that evolve into a smooth finish. This well balanced and strutted wine pairs perfectly with barbecued meats and heart pasta dishes.

My review:  The nose on this wine met me with notes of strawberries, and other fruits. The palate was was very dark and oaky in my opinion, more so than fruity. I wasn't crazy about this wine but not bad for the price point.

The Pairing: Paired Extra sharp cheddar cheese, which was a very good cheddar. It was zesty and buttery and so smooth. The wine didn't really compliment the cheese but it didn't go against it in my opinion.

My Score: 6.6/10

Another great wine and cheese pairing!!!!!!

Crane Lake

Name: Crane Lake
Variety:  Muscato
Region: California
Country: USA
Year: 2017
Price: $7.95

Winery review:  This sweet wine is light in color with floral aromas including notes of orange blossom, jasmine and honeysuckle. Flavors include peach, melon and spice. This wine can be sipped by itself, but is complementary to a number of foods. With appetizers try prosciutto, melon, brie cheese, or smoked salmon. For a main course I suggest baked ham, grilled red snapper or chicken

My review:  This wine had a very floral aroma with an orange smell standing out to me. The taste was delightful with ints of peach, melon and other things I couldn't pin point but were very tasty. this had a refreshing crisp finish that was nice.

Mt. Monster

Name: Mt. Monster
Variety:  Cabernet Sauvignon
Region: Limestone Coast
Country: Australia
Year: 2014
Price: $8.95

Winery review:  Deep purple in color. Classic aromas of lifted blackcurrant, blackberry and mint on the nose. Flavors follow through of sweet berry-fruit accented by fresh muddled mint. Elegant, structured palate with big velvety tannins.

My review:  I was excited for this based on the sick name. The aroma had some raspberry type smells, but also something that seemed like it was going to be tanniny. The taste did have a raspberry and blueberry taste to me with a finish that brought on the tannins of oaky finish. All in all this was good for me.
The Pairing: I did not pair this wine with any food

8.1/10

Figaro Tinto

Name: Figaro Tinto
Variety:  Garnacha
Region: Calatayud
Country: Spain
Year: 2016
Price: $8.95

Winery review:  "The 100% Garnacha 2016 Figaro Tinto Calatayud is a smoking value and is another red brought in by Kysela that knocks it out of the park on the value scale. Bright berry fruits, dried herbs, earth, and a touch of spice all flow to a medium-bodied, rounded, fleshy red that has loads of upfront charm and accessibility. It’s not going to make old bones, but as a house red to enjoy over the coming couple of years, it’s hard to beat."

My review: A very fruity aroma, hints of spice also. For a red wine it had a lighter body than I expected. Very deep dark berry tones with spice. Would go well with some food but probably not alone.
The Pairing: I did not pair this wine with any food

7.1/10

Nuna White

Name: Nuna
Variety:  White Blend
Region: Mendoza
Country: Argentina
Year: 2016
Price: $8.95

Winery review:  This unoaked Agrelo blend combines mostly Sauvignon Blanc with lesser amounts of Chardonnay and Viognier. White peach, lemon and grapefruit flavours combine to good effect here with a refreshing, limestone-like tang. 2017-19

My review:  A nose that was very florally, delivered on the taste with floral notes but also had a somewhat harsh taste for me, fairly earthy. The finish was fairly dry.
The Pairing: I did not pair this wine with any food

6.4/10

OnePio

Name: OnePio
Variety:  Trebbiano di Lugana
Region: Lombardy
Country: Italy
Year: 2017
Price: $8.95

Winery review:  100% Trebbiano di Lugana. Soft, harmonious, full and well-balanced wine with straw yellow color. It impresses the nose thanks to its multifaceted and fragrant perfume, that gives off almond and citrus emotions, where it’s possible to recognize even a fresh pineapple touch.

My review:  The aroma was a little...off for me not this wine, I did get some apple hints though. The taste brought out sour apple to me, and also some pineapple which I love. I enjoyed this wine, it had a nice crisp to it.

The Pairing: I did not pair this wine with any food
