Wine and Cheese Pairing #3

WINE AND CHEESE PAIRING #3

Cheese #1

Name: Beringer
Variety:  Red Blend
Region:  Sonoma, California
Country: USA
Year: ?
Price: $2.95

Winery review:  Find Beringer Main & Vine at the end of Main Street where the shops slowly fade into vineyards and wine country begin. Semi-dry

My review:  This wine was a nice wine, it was more sweet than dry in my opinion but was very smooth. A little peppery but still elegant.

The Pairing: Paired with North Sea cheese, which was an amazingly soft and silky smooth that had a slightly nutty taste as well as a sweetness. It really enhanced the wine and made for a great pairing

My Score: 8.5/10

CHEESE #2

Name: Sideshow The Charmer Shiraz
Variety:  Shiraz
Region: South Eastern Australia
Country: Australia
Year: 2017
Price: $3.95

Winery review:  From the first moment with aroma of blackberries and black plum, fresh strawberry notes topped with a touch of black licorice charm the palate

My review:  This was another great buy in may opinion. Great aroma of fruity and plummy notes. The taste was quite darker than expected. Taste of Licorice and jammy notes with a touch of leathery afternoons. I liked it though...

The Pairing: Paired with Muenster cheese, this cheese was incredibly smooth but had a slight sour taste which was off-putting but not terrible. They complimented one another well.

My Score: 7.9/10

CHEESE #3

Name: Aconga
Variety:  Red Blend
Region: Valle Central
Country: Chile
Year: 2018
Price: $4.95

Winery review:  In the artisan traditions of chute, this elegant wines flavors of strawberries and hokum are interwoven with aromas of cherry and hints of fig that evolve into a smooth finish. This well balanced and strutted wine pairs perfectly with barbecued meats and heart pasta dishes.

My review:  The nose on this wine met me with notes of strawberries, and other fruits. The palate was was very dark and oaky in my opinion, more so than fruity. I wasn't crazy about this wine but not bad for the price point.

The Pairing: Paired Extra sharp cheddar cheese, which was a very good cheddar. It was zesty and buttery and so smooth. The wine didn't really compliment the cheese but it didn't go against it in my opinion.

My Score: 6.6/10

Another great wine and cheese pairing!!!!!!
