Wine Cheese Pairing #1

 Wine Cheese Pairing #1

#1
Name: Fetzer
Variety:  Gewurtztraminer
Region: Montery
Country: France
Year: 2015
Price: $9.95 (for a magnum)

Winery review: With flavors of honeyed apricots and fresh peach, this gewurz is a secret weapon for taming spicy foods and enhancing simple ones.

My review: Aroma had an almost "bubbly" smell like a sparkling wine, also very fruity smell. The taste pleasant with some honey hints. I couldn't pick out a lot but it was very smooth and paired with the Esquirrou cheese it really brought the best out in the wine. The cheese was the BOMB.com. Like you need to go out and get a slice of this. I mean its just $26/lb.

The Pairing: Paired with an Esquirrou cheese.

My Score: 8.1/10

#2

Name: Bay Bridge Vineyards Merlot
Variety: 100% Pinot Noir
Region: Livermore & Ripon, California
Country: USA
Year: 2018
Price: $3.99

Winery review: No literature one the label from this winery.

My review: Aroma was very earthy and woody. The palate brought on a not too bold taste which was nice. I expected harsh tannins but it was actually very smooth. The cheese did good things along side this wine. The Pleasant Ridge Reserve cheese was fairly bold on its own. Almost had grain like texture. Paired with the wine the complimented one another very well.

The Pairing: Paired with Pleasant Ridge Reserve cheese.

My Score: 7.7/10

#3

Name: Arbor Mist
Variety: Red Moscato, Cherry
Region:Canandaigua, NY
Country: USA
Year: 2017
Price: $4.99

Winery review: Arbor Mist Red Moscato is a refreshing and fruity new way to enjoy wine! This delightfully sweet blend of Red Moscato displays flavors of juicy cherries and delivers a smooth, delicious taste -- perfect for casual get togethers, festive parties, or relaxing at home.

My review: Holy sh*t this was bad for me. Whoever wrote that winery review over at Arbor Mist needs to be fired and it should be re-written as; "It taste like Cherry Cough Syrup". Because thats exactly what I got out of it. It smelled good, like cherries but the taste was bad for me. The cheese was so great too, it helped the wine but I couldn't disgrace the $27/lb cheese with. So I poured it out and enjoyed the cheese on its yolo solo.

The Pairing: Paired with Spring Brook Farm Tarentaise.
My Score: Cheese=> 8.1/10. Wine==> Trash/10
